Subpart GG Kiln and Furnace Information for Units NOT Monitored by CEMS for All Reporting Years


This page provides step-by-step instructions on how to enter and edit Subpart GG Zinc Manufacturing process unit and emissions information for units that are NOT monitored by a Continuous Emissions Monitoring System (CEMS).

Step 1: Add a Kiln or Furnace

To add a kiln or furnace that is NOT monitored by a CEMS, find the Waelz Kilns or Electrothermic Furnaces table on the Subpart GG Overview page and click the link titled "ADD a Kiln or Furnace".

To edit a unit, click the edit icon or the Name/ID link located in the first column of the Waelz Kilns or Electrothermic Furnaces table.

To delete a unit, click the delete icon located in the last column of the Waelz Kilns or Electrothermic Furnaces table.

Step 2: Confirm that the kiln or furnace is NOT monitored using CEMS

Once you click "ADD a Kiln or Furnace" you will be asked to confirm that this unit is NOT monitored by CEMS. Select “no”, click SAVE, and you will be presented with the Kiln and Furnace Information page.

Step 3: Enter Kiln or Furnace Information

For each Waelz Kiln or Electrothermic furnace NOT monitored using CEMS use the kiln or furnace detail page, as shown below, to enter your data.

For each process unit NOT monitored by a CEMS, report the following required information:

  • A unique name or identifier for the kiln or furnace, plus optional description for this unit (see also About Unique Unit Names)
  • Type of Kiln or Furnace (selecting from the pick list)

After entering a unique name or identifier, optional description for this unit, and type of Kiln or Furnace, click SAVE.

Next, click the "Add an input material" link to enter Carbon-containing Input Materials as shown in the screen below:

Step 4: Enter Carbon-Containing Input Materials

For each carbon-containing input material enter:

  • Input Material Name (selecting from the pick list)
  • Number of months missing data procedures were followed to determine the monthly mass of the material (selecting from the pick list)
  • Number of months missing data procedures were followed to repeat the test to determine the carbon content (selecting from the pick list)
  • Procedure used to develop substitute data for the monthly mass of the carbon-containing input material
  • Test method used for the carbon content analysis (selecting from the pick list)

Once you have added all of your Carbon-containing Input Material, click SAVE at the bottom of the Waelz Kiln or Electrothermic Furnace Information page to return to the Subpart Overview page.

Step 5: Repeat Steps 1-4

Repeat Steps 1-4 until all kilns and furnaces NOT monitored by a CEMS have been added for your facility
