Subpart II - Calculate GHG Emissions

Please see Reporting Form Instructions instructions on downloading the blank reporting form and uploading the completed reporting form.
You may also refer to Optional Calculation Spreadsheet Instructions to download the Subpart II calculation spreadsheet.

1.) Complete the table for each anaerobic treatment process for which the facility does not recover biogas to calculate emissions according to Equation II-3.

  1. Select the unique identifier for every process with no biogas recovery from the drop-down list. The next column will then automatically fill with the corresponding anaerobic process from tab 1. Introduction.
  2. Confirm the pre-filled annual mass of CH4 generated from the anaerobic wastewater treatment process which is pulled in from Tab 2. CH4 Generation.
  3. Confirm the pre-filled calculated annual mass CH4 emissions from the anaerobic wastewater treatment process.
  4. Use the drop-down menu to indicate whether you would like to report the calculated value (displayed in column to the left of this question), or an alternative value (to be entered in column to the right of this question). Initially, calculated values are selected for reporting by default.
  5. If you would like to override the calculated result and report and alternative value, select "Enter my own result (value will be rounded)" in column G and enter your override value in column H.
  6. Ensure that column I reflects the value you wish to be included in your report.

2.) Complete the table for each anaerobic treatment process for which the facility does recover biogas to calculate emissions according to Equation II-6.

  1. Select the unique identifier for every process that has biogas recovery from the drop-down list. The next column will then automatically fill with the corresponding anaerobic process from tab 1. Introduction.
  2. From the drop-down list, select whether CH4 destruction occurs at the facility, off-site, or both.
  3. If CH4 destruction occurs on-site or both on and off-site, indicate whether a back-up destruction device is present at the facility.
  4. If CH4 destruction occurs on-site or both on and off-site, indicate the annual operating hours for the primary destruction device.
  5. If CH4 destruction occurs on-site or both on and off-site, indicate the annual operating hours for the secondary (back-up) destruction device.
  6. Confirm the prefilled annual quantity of CH4 recovered from the anaerobic reactor, sludge digester, or lagoon as populated from tab 5. Equation II-4 input.
  7. From the drop-down list, select the CH4 collection efficiency of the anaerobic process, as specified in Table II-2 (located on Tab 7 for reference).
  8. Confirm the calculated leakage value for each anaerobic process.
  9. If CH4 destruction occurs on-site or both on and off-site, enter the CH4 destruction efficiency of the primary destruction device (lesser of manufacturer's specified destruction efficiency and 0.99). If biogas is transported off-site for destruction, the destruction efficiency should be set equal to 1.
  10. Confirm the calculated fraction of hours the primary destruction device was operating (device operating hours/hours in the year). If biogas is transported off-site for destruction, the fraction of hours should be set equal to 1.
  11. If CH4 destruction occurs on-site or both on and off-site, enter the CH4 destruction efficiency of the secondary (back-up) destruction device (lesser of manufacturer's specified destruction efficiency and 0.99). If biogas is transported off-site for destruction, the destruction efficiency should be set equal to 1.
  12. Confirm the calculated fraction of hours the secondary (back-up) destruction device was operating (device operating hours/hours in the year). If biogas is transported off-site for destruction, the fraction of hours should be set equal to 1.
  13. Confirm the calculated annual mass of CH4 emissions from each anaerobic wastewater treatment process.
  14. Use the drop-down menu to indicate whether you would like to report the calculated value (displayed in column to the left of this question), or an alternative value (to be entered in column to the right of this question). Initially, calculated values are selected for reporting by default.
  15. If you would like to override the calculated result and report and alternative value, select "Enter my own result (value will be rounded)" column Q and enter your override value in column R.
  16. Ensure that column S reflects the value you wish to be included in your report.

3.) Confirm the facility-level emissions calculation in column D according to Equation II-7.
