Q741. Why did some facilities that have emissions below 25,000 metric tons CO2e submit a GHG report?

A741. Facilities in some industry types covered by the GHGRP are required to report regardless of their total annual emissions. This is the case for many power plants, refineries and several other facility types. Additionally, some facility types are required to report if the amount of greenhouse gases they generate exceeds 25,000 metric tons CO2e. The actual emissions reported to the Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program by these may be less than 25,000 metric tons CO2e if some of the greenhouse gases generated are captured or otherwise not emitted to the atmosphere. This is especially common for municipal solid waste landfills.
