Pre-Charged Equipment

Pre-Charged Equipment

Please see Reporting Form Instructions on downloading the blank reporting form and uploading the completed reporting form.

Fill out the import/export of an appliance/electrical equipment information table.

1) A unique name or ID of your choice: this could be the model number but note that if you both import and export the same model number, you will need a different name, for example Refrigerator1-I and Refrigerator1-E.

2) The type or category of the equipment: these are broad but you can use the description if you wish to keep track of additional detail. Currently there are several types of appliances (chillers, window units, PTACs, motor vehicle ACs, residential unitary AC, rooftop AC, dehumidifiers, refrigerator-freezers, retail food appliances, ice makers, water heaters, refrigerated transport units, TXVs and other appliances). There are also several categories for electrical equipment (circuit breakers, gas-insulated substations, gas-insulated lines, power transformers and other switchgear).

3) Whether this particular equipment was imported or exported: you will have to enter data in separate lines if you both import and export equipment.

4) The number of pieces of equipment that are imported or exported.

5) The total charge or holding size of each unit.

6) Whether the appliance also contains a foam with f-GHGs. If so, additional details regarding the foam must be reported.

7) For reports covering 2011 or 2012 activity, the date(s) on which the equipment was imported or exported. For reports covering 2013 or later activity, this information does not need to be reported.

8) Other information as explained below.

For perspective the entire table width is presented below. Enlarged views of this table are presented below the perspective view.

The following example shows the first 8 columns:

  • Enter a unique name or ID of your choosing for each equipment/product imported or exported (e.g. model number).
  • Enter a description of the equipment, this field is optional.
  • Use the drop-down pick list to select the equipment type. For components, select the equipment type that most often uses the component.
  • Use the drop-down menu to indicate whether the equipment was imported or exported. Use a separate line if both imported and exported. If entering 2011 or 2012 data, enter dates of import or export beginning in column AQ.
  • Enter the number of pieces of this equipment imported or exported in the calendar year.
  • Use the pick list to indicate if equipment is pre-charged with f-GHG, contains foam with f-GHGs, or both.
  • If applicable, enter the total charge or holding size per unit (i.e. total charge capacity per unit) in kilograms per piece of equipment. Include only the refrigerant or electrical insulator, not the amount in the foam.
  • If applicable, use the pick list to identify a f-GHG or blend charged into the equipment. For a f-GHG not in the pick list, select "Other f-GHG (specify)", then enter required information. Use columns O and Q to identify more f-GHGs and/or blends as necessary.

The next example shows the next 9 columns:

  • If you use an "other f-GHG", specify a gas name for the "other f-GHG".
  • Specify a CAS Number for the "other f-GHG".
  • Specify a chemical formula for the "other f-GHG".
  • Specify default GWP of "other f-GHG" charged into Equipment.
  • Enter the mass fraction of f-GHG in the charge. Value must be between zero and one. For a charge composed of a single f-GHG or listed refrigerant blend, enter "1".
  • Use the pick list to identify a second f-GHG or blend charged into the equipment (if applicable). Use column Q to identify more f-GHGs and/or blends as necessary.
  • Enter the mass fraction of this second f-GHG in the charge. Value must be between zero and one.
  • Use the pick list to identify a third f-GHG charged into the equipment (if applicable).
  • Enter the mass fraction of this third f-GHG in the charge. Value must be between zero and one.

The next example shows the next 8 columns:

  • The Total Mass Imported or Exported (in kg f-GHG) via Pre-charged Equipment (1 of 3) is calculated automatically. Do not enter data here.
  • The Total Mass Imported or Exported (in kg f-GHG) via Pre-charged Equipment (2 of 3) is calculated automatically. Do not enter data here.
  • The Total Mass Imported or Exported (in kg f-GHG) via Pre-charged Equipment (3 of 3) is calculated automatically. Do not enter data here.
  • If applicable, use the pick list to identify the f-GHG in foam contained in the equipment. For blends or mixtures, enter f-GHG constituents separately in columns AB, AJ and AL. For a f-GHG not in the pick list, select "Other f-GHG (specify)". If the f-GHG is unknown, select "Unknown Gas".
  • Specify a gas name for the "Other f-GHG".
  • Specify a CAS number for the "Other f-GHG".
  • Specify a chemical formula for the "Other f-GHG".
  • Specify default GWP of "other f-GHG" in foam that is contained in Equipment.

The next example shows the next 8 columns:

  • Enter the mass of f-GHG in foam contained within each piece of equipment in kilograms per piece of equipment
  • If you do not know the f-GHG in the foam, enter the name of the foam manufacturer that produces the foam product that contains an unknown GHG.
  • Enter the mass of unknown GHG in foam that is contained in a single piece of equipment in kilograms CO2e per piece of equipment.
  • Select "Yes" to certify that you were unable to obtain information on the identity and mass of the f-GHG within the foam from the foam's manufacturer.
  • Use the drop-down list to identify an additional f-GHG in foam contained in the equipment (if applicable). To enter another f-GHG, use column AL.
  • Enter the mass of this second f-GHG in foam contained within each piece of equipment in kilograms per piece of equipment.
  • Use the drop-down list to identify an additional f-GHG in foam contained in the equipment.
  • Enter the mass of this third f-GHG in foam contained within each piece of equipment in kilograms per piece of equipment.

The final example shows the last 15 columns:

  • The total mass imported or exported (in kg f-GHG) via foam in equipment (1 of 3) is calculated automatically. Do not enter data here.
  • The total mass imported or exported (in kg f-GHG) via foam in equipment (2 of 3) is calculated automatically. Do not enter data here.
  • The total mass imported or exported (in kg f-GHG) via foam in equipment (3 of 3) is calculated automatically. Do not enter data here.
