Q849. What is the equation to calculate CO2 emissions from an electric arc furnace (Equation Q-5) for Iron and Steel Production facilities (Subpart Q)?

A849. The equation is as follows:

The e-GGRT application prompts facilities to enter the required data for this equation into the Inputs Verifier Tool and calculates results properly.

The rendering of Equation Q-5 published in the Federal Register on December 9, 2016 (81 FR 89188) is incorrect.  The version of this equation that appears in 40 CFR 98.173 in the electronic Code of Federal Regulations at www.ecfr.gov is also incorrect.

EPA will issue a correction in a future Federal Register notice.
