2017 Reporting Forms Available

EPA has published the reporting forms that facilities and suppliers should use to prepare their annual GHG reports for Reporting Year (RY) 2017.

Reporting forms are now available for the following sources:

  • Fluorinated Gas Production (Subpart L)
  • Lead Production (Subpart R)
  • Lime Manufacturing – CEMS only (Subpart S)
  • Nitric Acid Production (Subpart V)
  • Use of Electric Transmission and Distribution Equipment (Subpart DD)
  • Underground Coal Mines (Subpart FF)
  • Suppliers of Coal Based Liquids (Subpart LL)
  • Suppliers of Petroleum Products (Subpart MM)
  • Suppliers of Industrial GHG (Subpart OO)
  • Importers and Exporters of Fluorinated Greenhouse Gases Contained in Pre-Charged Equipment or Closed-Cell Foams (Subpart QQ)
  • Geologic Sequestration of Carbon Dioxide – Injection Well Identification Form (Subpart RR)
  • Manufacture of Electric Transmission and Distribution Equipment (Subpart SS)

Annual GHG reports for RY 2017 are due to EPA on April 2, 2018.

Note: that the e-GGRT software will not be able to accept reports for RY2017 until mid-February.

EPA has published the XML schema that facilities and suppliers should use to prepare their annual GHG reports for Reporting Year (RY) 2017.  This includes materials for all subparts, including those with new or revised reporting requirements for RY2017.

EPA has also published the reporting form that Subpart W (Petroleum and Natural Gas Systems) facilities should use to prepare their annual reports for 2017. 

The e-GGRT schema and supporting information can be found on the XML Reporting Instructions page.

The updated reporting forms for Subpart W (Petroleum and Natural Gas Systems) can be downloaded from the Reporting Form Instructions page.

EPA is making available drafts of the Annual Report and Inputs Verifier Tool (IVT) XML schemas for reporting year 2017.

The electronic Greenhouse Gas Reporting Tool (e-GGRT) is now open for 2016 reporting under EPA's Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program (GHGRP).  The deadline for submitting your facility's 2016 annual GHG report is March 31, 2017.

EPA has made several changes to the e-GGRT application and reporting forms for Reporting Year 2016.  Be sure that you download the most recent version of the reporting form(s) from Reporting Form Instructions before you begin preparing your report.

Schema for XML Reporters

EPA has made several changes to the e-GGRT schema for Reporting Year 2016.  Be sure that you download the most recent version of the reporting schema(s) from XML Reporting Instructions before you begin preparing your report.

EPA has scheduled training webinars to assist reporters with their RY2016 greenhouse gas reporting requirements.  Please visit http://www.epa.gov/ghgreporting/training-and-testing-opportunities-ghg-reporting for additional information and to register.

EPA has published the draft XML schema for Reporting Year (RY) 2016. This release addresses most schema components applicable to RY2016.  These materials include annual reporting schema as well as IVT schemas. The draft XML reporting schema and supporting materials are published at Draft RY2016 XML Schema.

In October 2015 [80 FR 64262], EPA finalized certain revisions to the Subpart W calculation, monitoring, and reporting requirements for onshore petroleum and natural gas gathering and boosting activities, onshore natural gas transmission pipelines, completions and workovers of oil wells with hydraulic fracturing, and well identification numbers. To accommodate these revisions, EPA is making available drafts of the Reporting Year (RY) 2016 Reporting Form, Optional Calculation Spreadsheet, and XML schema.  They are available for stakeholder review and comment.

Revised Subpart W Reporting Forms

A revised version of the Subpart W RY15 Reporting Form and Subpart W RY15 Supersize Reporting Form have been posted to: http://www.ccdsupport.com/confluence/display/help/Reporting+Form+Instructions. This version clarifies reporting requirements and instructions identified by users since February 10, 2016.  No new data elements or schema changes are included in this revision.   Please note that, you may still submit the previous version of the Subpart W RY15 reporting form (dated 2/10/2016) to e-GGRT.

Revised Subpart W Optional Calculation Tool

A revised version of the Subpart W RY15 Optional Calculation Tool workbook has been also been posted at:  http://www.ccdsupport.com/confluence/display/help/Optional+Calculation+Spreadsheet+Instructions. For a detailed description of the revisions please see the document “Subpart W RY15 Calculation Tool Change Log” posted on the same page. 

The use of these optional calculation tool spreadsheets is voluntary. The spreadsheets are meant to support reporters as they complete the e-GGRT reporting process.  You do not need to use EPA’s spreadsheets to perform the calculations for emissions equations, but you do need to keep records of these calculations whether or not you use the calculation spreadsheets provided by EPA.

EPA has made several changes to the e-GGRT schema for Reporting Year 2015.  Be sure that you download the most recent version of the reporting schema(s) from XML Reporting Instructions before you begin preparing your report.

Critical Error Checks

EPA has added additional validation checks to the e-GGRT system that, if triggered, must be resolved before a report can be submitted.  EPA encourages reporters to allow sufficient time to review validation messages and correct any errors before submitting reports.

The electronic Greenhouse Gas Reporting Tool (e-GGRT) will be down to prepare the system for RY2015 reporting beginning the evening of Friday, February 5th, 2016.

Before the maintenance period begins and in preparation for the upcoming RY15 e-GGRT reporting period, EPA encourages you to take care of any pending Certificate of Representation and Notice of Delegation related actions.  These might include new representative or agent appointments, and changes in designated or alternate designated representatives.  For more detail on these processes please review our help content on the topics using the links below.  Please note that facility representatives or agents that are new to e-GGRT will need to complete user registration, including a paper Electronic Signature Agreement (ESA).  Please allow several days for EPA to process and approve ESAs.
